Sprout Change Training Pants Review

9:34 AM Posted by Mommy Is Green

By the time my son went to his 18 month check-up with the doctor, he was already over three feet tall. This was no surprise because my husband was also large for his age as a baby. My husband is extremely tall now and we predict our son will continue to become very tall too. My son has done well with one-size cloth diapers but he's in the stage where they are getting a little snug. I never thought height would be a factor in how his diapers fit him but now I'm learning otherwise. Even though he's still in the weight limit for most cloth diapers, he's still growing out of them.

My son will be two by the end of the year. So we're still diapering but hope to move on to potty training soon. The problem I faced was being able to find cloth diapers that fit with room to grow. I also asked myself if I really wanted to purchase new diapers when we would be potty training in the near future? Sprout Change offered me a wonderful solution. Their Training Pants work like an All-in-One diaper as well as a trainer. They are big enough to fit my son and he can easily pull them up and down.

The Sprout Change Training Pants are one-size and fit 20 - 50 lbs (2T - 5T). They can be easily adjusted while on your toddler. They are not bulky and have worked beautifully for us overnight. We were sent the StayDry (buttery-soft microfleece over absorbent microfiber) trainers. With a hidden layer of waterproof PUL, these trainers are unbeatable. I was amazed at how much these trainers absorbed while keeping dry to the touch on the inside. Sprout Change Training Pants are hands down my new favorite for overnights and outings!

The trainers come in both StayDry and Organic (cotton/hemp). Now you know I love organic fabric! I've already ordered some of the organic training pants to try as well. We've already been using the Sprout Change Organic Diapers so I'm sure I'll like their organic trainers too.

These trainers give me the freedom to still cloth diaper and move on to potty training whenever my son is ready. So far he's mostly put the little potty bowl on his head when we've tried. But I'm starting to see more signs that he's ready. Until he makes the transition to seriously potty training (hopefully soon), I can honestly count on these trainers. Unlike a lot of other trainers, these will contain accidents.

If your toddler is growing out of their diapers, or you're transitioning to cloth diapers later than usual, I highly recommend you try the Sprout Change Training Pants. I'm sure you will love them like I do!

**Update** I like the StayDry trainers better. The organic cotton trainers take
longer to dry. I think the organic cotton version would work better as a
pocket trainer. I always choose organic cotton first, but not in this case.

So are you using the trainers with an insert as an AIO diaper until he's more ready to potty train? That's kind of what I'm in the market for and was wondering if it was worth the money in buying them - I have a 22 month old. Thanks!

Hi Rachel! These trainers are pretty much an AIO diaper that's able to be pulled down like a trainer. They are sewn together like an AIO and absorb just as much as a diaper does. So there's no need to add any inserts. I used these as diapers first with no problem.

The elastic for both the waist and the legs is pretty stretchy to make them easy to pull down. Since the elastic can be adjusted for both the waist and the legs you can make it tighter or looser. I've just used it looser for training.

Were you thinking of something like a pocket trainer? For those you would need to adjust how many inserts you use. These are definitely one piece that serves as both a diaper and a trainer.
